Soulja Boy Takes Over Macy’s Broward Mall This Weekend

I’ve always been fascinated by hip hop artists. They may be the only high-profile professionals who find it (and aren’t called out on it) perfectly acceptable to bring their entire posse to work with them – and give them random, odd jobs (or none at all). Soulja Boy is no different. The rapper made an appearance at Broward Mall’s Macy’s as part of the Macy’s mstyle Lab Concert Tour today, full posse in tow. While most of the posse did nothing more than stand on stage (and block our photographers), Boy’s little brother kept things interesting by kicking moves with his brother on stage.

Home Makeover 101: Nursery Makeover, Part 4

The Finishing Touches

The devil’s in the details, and interior decorating is no different. The right curtain, area rug, or even accent piece can make a room look complete, or make a room look cluttered. For this Pooh-themed nursery, the obvious next step in finishing the project was to choose bedding, window coverings that would provide shade from the bright sunlight, a soft floor covering that would give baby A a place to crawl around as he becomes mobile, and accent pieces that would be both aesthetically-pleasing and practical.

Seeing Red: Louboutin Loses Trademark Its Signature Soles

Imitation is the most sincere form of flattery…unless it’s in the business arena. Yesterday, infamous French footwear designer Christian Louboutin lost a suit attempting to protect its trademark red outsoles. Specifically – the designer was protecting the use of Pantone 18 (Chinese Red) in outsoles – a color that has become synonymous with his brand since it was introduced in 1992.

Competitor Yves St. Laurent sparked the suit in question, as they prepare to feature red-soled stilettos in their Fall 2011 collection. Louboutin retaliated by taking the rival to court, citing 2008 trademark protection for the coloring of its soles.

Twenty-Five Years Later, Baby Is Back Out Of The Corner

Following in the popularity of such dance flicks as High School Musical and Glee (and following the announcement of the planned remake of Footloose), Lionsgate has announced that it will be remaking the 1987 dance classic, “Dirty Dancing.”

While no casting decisions have been publicly made, Kenny Ortega has been slated to direct the remake. Of all the potential contenders, Ortega may be the best choice to keep the film true to its original roots – as he was the choreographer responsible for all those dirty moves that had us practicing our dance steps in front of the TV set (you know who you are out there…I certainly know I’m guilty).

It’s All In The Details: Making The Room Pop

My brother is an illustrator by trade, so initially I was hoping to recruit him to create a Pooh mural for the baby’s room. Unfortunately, with his schedule (and his geography, given that he lives 1200 miles away), committing a week or more to paint a mural simply wasn’t in the cards. For those with big budgets – you can typically find artists in your area who are willing to work on murals or other work. For those of you on a budget, I found another option: wall decals.

Amazon.com is an awesome go-to site for anything that’s seemingly random – as in, “Hmm, I really want a giant Winnie the Pooh on my baby’s wall. Let’s see if Amazon has that.” And almost always – they will. I was lucky enough to find an entire collection of wall decals that suited my needs.
