Soulja Boy Takes Over Macy’s Broward Mall This Weekend

I’ve always been fascinated by hip hop artists. They may be the only high-profile professionals who find it (and aren’t called out on it) perfectly acceptable to bring their entire posse to work with them – and give them random, odd jobs (or none at all). Soulja Boy is no different. The rapper made an appearance at Broward Mall’s Macy’s as part of the Macy’s mstyle Lab Concert Tour today, full posse in tow. While most of the posse did nothing more than stand on stage (and block our photographers), Boy’s little brother kept things interesting by kicking moves with his brother on stage.

That said, the posse may be one of the few hip hop cliches that Soulja Boy lived up to. The well-spoken artist advised audience members, “You’re all in charge of your own destinies. Don’t ever let anyone tell you that you can’t do what you want.” Instead of focusing on the women in the audience (who were certainly vying for his attention), he called out to the audience, “Can everyone please take three steps back? There’s a little kid up here who’s getting crushed.”

The energy in the building was absolutely palpable as Soulja Boy delivered hit after hit to a crowd of screaming, adoring fans who sang along and cheered as he performed “Turn My Swag On,” “Kiss Me Through the Phone,” “Crank That,” and more.
