Kork Wine & Cheese Wants To Host Your Valentine’s Day Nightcap

If you’re not ready to retire after dinner on Valentine’s Day (or if you’re looking for a late-night activity in lieu of dinner), Kork Wine & Cheese in Downtown Miami would like to invite you and your Valentine for a nightcap.

From the owner of former Brickell hot spot Transit Lounge, Kork is an intimate, upscale wine bar, cheese shop and underground cellar tucked into the heart of the city’s bustling downtown. The cellar, formerly a 1940s bomb shelter, feels like a modern speakeasy, featuring wooden floors, over-sized leather couches and iron chandeliers, as well as a selection of more than 500 wine varietals and an ever-changing menu of meats and cheeses (with imported and domestic beers available for the hops-oriented).

Tired Of The Same Old Brew? Brewtails For Your Super Bowl Sunday

Let’s face it – if it were up to the guys, every get together would feature a keg and those signature red plastic cups (and I’m hearing a Greek alphabet off in the distance). But for those hostesses (and hosts) who are tired of serving up the same old brew at every get-together – here are a collection of “brew-tails” that will let your man hang on to his pilsner, and his dignity, this Super Bowl Sunday.

Out of Paso Robles: Halter Ranch’s New Winemaker Bottles His First Vintages

The experienced wine lover knows vineyards out of Paso Robles are quickly emerging as solid competition for their sister properties in Napa and Sonoma, and Halter Ranch – a 35,000 square foot winery, is positioning itself to compete with its more established brethren with active business developments coming out for the past  year. Last year, the winery appointed Kevin Sass as its winemaker, and this February, Sass will be showing off his first works with the bottling of vintages of whites and rose, with reds coming as soon as April.

South Florida Eats: Racks Downtown Eatery, Boca Raton

Racks Downtown Eatery in Mizner Park had the potential to be a great hidden gem in Boca Raton, and I was looking forward to writing a great review of the restaurant. From the moment I walked through the door, I was greeted by a happy, friendly hostess and a clean, modern-looking restaurant with raw bar, pizza oven and indoor/outdoor bar that was quickly filling up for what I later found was Happy Hour.

For those who aren’t aware, I’m less than a week away from “D-Day” and my son’s arrival, so I look like I’m carrying a soccer ball around my waist when I do motivate myself to get dressed and venture out into the South Florida heat and humidity to get a bite to eat (the poor hubby has been tasked with more deliver orders than I care to outline in the past month). I’m also dealing with the myriad of late-pregnancy pains that moms-to-be look forward to: back pain, swollen joints, and general aches. This is all important to my overall restaurant impression, which is why I spell it out up front.
