Finding the perfect pair of jeans has always been a challenge for me. I’m tall (5’9″), and I have curves – my hips are a 7, but my waist is a 5. When I was younger, back when studies showed that mass market jeans – the only ones my mother would allow, because “spending that much on one pair of jeans is just outrageous!” – were designed for women of “average” height – meaning 5’5″ to 5’7″ – so most jeans fit me like highwaters. The ones I did find at stores like the Gap or Express were designed for women with stick figures. I’m not pear-shaped, by any means, but I have hips and a bust, and thus don’t fit into the runway model stereotype clothing.
A few years ago, I discovered Seven For All Mankind jeans, and have pretty much lived in them ever since. Some other perfect fits – LTB (Little to Big) jeans and Hydraulic jeans. However, this morning, while shopping for some cute new tops in Charlotte Russe to take to BlogHer (yes, I’m going!), I ran across an adorable dark wash jean that I had to try on. And they fit!
The “just enough” stretch on the jeans made them fit nicely around my torso, without making my legs look like they were totally shapeless and drowning in denim.I did have to go with the Size 7 (Charlotte Russe sizes run small – it took me a LONG time to accept that I had to shop for tops in a size large, instead of medium, because of my bust), but they fit and were very comfortable.
Even better, the jeans were only $29.99 – making them easily affordable over my other favorite brands. The true test of time will be whether they stand up to my abuse – I’m a jeans and cute top kinda gal – so this post may get updated if they fall apart or wear easily – but for today, I’m definitely pleased with my find!
For you curvy women out there – try the Charlotte Russe Lapis jeans. You can find them online here if there isn’t a store near you – but make sure you go a size larger than you usually wear, if you aren’t a frequent shopper!
