The iPad Is Coming!

It’s official. Engadget is confirming that the highly-anticipated Apple iPad will be going on sale on April 3, with pre-orders starting on March 12. Pricing will be $499 for the 3G – and I’m personally super-excited to see the product first-hand, rather than being run by Steve or another Apple employee! Let the countdown begin!

From AdWeek:

Expressing a desire to create a third category between laptop computers and smartphones, Apple CEO Steve Jobs finally revealed specifics on the iPad: it features a 9.7-inch display screen, weighs 1.5 pounds and is a half-inch thick. And despite rumors of prices in the thousand-dollar range, consumers can snag one for as low as $499.

Besides serving as a superior Web-surfing device Jobs emphasized the iPad’s advanced gaming features, along with its ability to deliver high-definition movies, TV shows and YouTube clips. Plus, the iPad is designed as a tool for buying and reading books; the company has deals with publishers such as Penguin, HarperCollins, Simon & Schuster, Macmillan and Hachette.

PhotoShow Review!

With school back in session and the kids out of your hair for a few hours each day, you might actually have a chance to organize and share your summer photos.
Roxio’s PhotoShow is a much more entertaining way to share special moments with friends and family: You can create your own “movies” and personalize them with your own soundtrack, borders, captions, and more. You can even order a professionally produced and packaged DVD of your PhotoShow, which is an affordable gift option.
Roxio PhotoShow is a web service that lets you share photos and videos with friends and family easily by creating PhotoShows – multi-media slideshows with music, captions, animation, transitions, and effects. You can also import photos directly from Facebook, Shutterfly, Picasa and Flickr accounts. Once your PhotoShow is complete, you can:
1.      Email it to friends
2.      Post it to a webpage, blog, or social network (Facebook, MySpace, etc.)
3.      Burn it to a DVD/CD
4.      Broadcast it to cable TV
To make and share shows directly from your phone, download the mobile uploader for Blackberry, Windows Mobile, or iPhone. Apple fans can podcast a PhotoShow Channel on iTunes, then sync it to an iPod, iPhone or AppleTV. Learn more about how PhotoShow can help you share your special moments at www.photoshow.com.

Smoking Everywhere – And Nowhere

I’m a smoker. I have been for years. Every time I have tried to quit, something has happened that’s gotten me started back up (Since my last attempt, I’ve said I would never quit again, so there would be no more major catastrophes in my life). However, today while walking through the local mall, I came across the Smoking Everywhere e-Cigarette, and I think this may be the tool that finally helps me kick the nasty habit that’s left me sore, more susceptible to colds and bronchitis, and with the beginnings of smoker’s cough – not to mention with a car that smells like cigarettes and clothes that do, too.

Today is Day One. I smoked my last cigarette about three hours ago, and my new e-cigarette is currently on the charger. I was told it would take about an hour to full recharge and be ready for use.

The kit was pricey – my boyfriend and I got the two kit special, so we each spent about $85 on it (regularly $100). Cartridge refills cost $10, and each comes with five tips – each of which is equivalent to a pack of cigarettes. That means, instead of spending $7 on a pack, I’m down to spending $2. I started with the high nicotine cartridges, but every flavor (including the strawberry, coffee, and other novelty flavors) comes in high, medium, low, and no nicotine, making it easy to step down my intake, and, hopefully, quit altogether someday. I’ll be revisiting this product regularly, updating everyone on my progress as I commit to quitting. If it works, it’ll be the best $100 I’ve ever spent. Wish me luck!
